Welcome to Craig Smith Music's page for piano lessons and keyboard lessons in Salford, West Lancashire (Southport, Ormskirk etc), Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Fylde (Kirkham, Lytham St Annes, Blackpool etc) and Merseyside (St Helens, Wigan, Skelmersdale etc). The agency was set up when Craig Smith's very popular private piano and tuition school became overwhelmed with demand from prospective students. We currently offer both home lessons and lessons at our studios and are available to offer school piano and keyboard lessons in a peripatetic tuition capacity.

Which instruments do the teachers teach? [Top]
At present, we have several piano teachers and keyboard teachers on our books. Craig, Kim, Steph, Kevin and Jeanette teach both piano lessons and keyboard lessons. Sarah is mainly a flute teacher, but is also qualified to provide piano lessons. Our piano tuition is mainly mobile (at the student's home) but Craig, Steph and Jeanette have teaching studios too. Keyboard lessons for beginners and piano lessons for beginners are available, as are lessons for advanced performers up to and including diploma standard.We also have flute teachers, drum teachers and guitar teachers across the North West; see the other Tuition Agency pages from the menu for further details.
When and where do lessons take place? [Top]
Our piano lessons are available all over the North West; we have piano teachers in Preston, Darwen, Ormskirk and Salford, who cover lessons in most towns in Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside:- Piano and keyboard lessons in Preston, Fulwood, Penwortham and all local areas
- Piano and keyboard lessons in Leyland and Chorley and all local areas
- Piano lessons in North Liverpool, Ormskirk, Southport, Skelmersdale etc
- Piano lessons in Salford, Eccles etc

The other music teachers on our books teach from our bases in Preston, East Lancashire, Salford and Merseyside, covering almost the entire North West.
Who will teach my lesson? [Top]
Most of the teachers on our books are past students or long-term associates of Craig (who you can read about on the Tuition Page), meaning we are sure that they meet our expectations both personally and as musicians and teachers.After Craig, Kim is our busiest piano and keyboard teacher, and covers the majority of our East Lancashire lessons. Kim recently achieved one of the highest marks possible in her LCM diploma in piano playing, testament to her ability on the instrument. She's studied a music degree at Salford University. Kim's lessons are visit lessons, at the homes of students: keyboard and piano lessons in Blackburn, keyboard and piano lessons in Darwen, keyboard and piano lessons in Bolton (and all of their outlying villages). She also teaches peripatetic lessons in schools.
Kim's lessons are now fully booked. We're working on finding the right teacher to work with her to cover the Blackburn and Darwen areas. In the meantime, we've opened a waiting list for these lessons.
Steph is another old student of Craig, and followed in his footsteps when she achieved a place at LIPA, 'the Paul McCartney Fame School'. She works as a composer and performer in Liverpool as well as teaching with Craig Smith Music. Steph teaches both visit lessons and lessons hosted from a teaching studio. Her students are based in Preston and on the Fylde out as far as Poulton, and she is also available for lessons to the south and east of Preston, in such areas as Penwortham, Leyland, Chorley, Hoghton, Samlesbury and anywhere similar. Daytime school peripatetic piano and keyboard lessons are also available.
Sarah recently came on board to cover the increasing demand for woodwind lessons and piano lessons in Merseyside, and will also be covering Salford and Chorley. Sarah, who is working on a career as a professional music teacher, is primarily a flautist (flute player). Having achieved her grade 8 on flute, she went on to study music at Salford.
Sarah is also a qualified saxophonist and pianist (always useful when working as a flute teacher). She is available as a piano teacher as follows: piano lessons in Ormskirk, piano lessons in Southport, piano lessons in Skelmersdale, piano lessons in Salford, piano lessons in Chorley, piano lessons in St Helens, piano lessons in Wigan.
All of our music teachers have to meet certain criteria before being formally accepted onto our books. These include, but aren't limited to, having high levels of ability on the instrument(s) to be taught, graded certifications in performance and theory of music, and suitable teaching space when they teach from home or a studio. They are also asked to provide a CRB disclosure.
Peripatetic school lessons [Top]
Craig Smith Music is available to provide peripatetic piano lessons in schools across the North West, including Preston, Leyland, Chorley, West Lancashire (Southport, Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Tarleton etc), Merseyside and Greater Manchester (Salford, Bolton etc).
