Welcome to Craig Smith Music's page for percussion lessons and drum lessons, available on the Fylde (Blackpool, Lytham, Kirkham, Poulton, Fleetwood etc). We also offer drum lessons in Preston, and drum lessons in Garstang (plus their surrounds). The tuition agency was set up when Craig Smith's very popular private tuition practice became overwhelmed with demand from prospective students.
We currently have three drum teachers on our books, although Mark is the only drum teacher with vacant slots. Mark offers one-to-one drum lessons in Blackpool, Preston and north Lancashire. His percussion and drum tuition is available from his dedicated home music space (comprising kit, percussion and computer-based tools such as Sibelius) in Carleton, near Blackpool. Mark also plays bass to help you to experience rhythm section work. He is available to visit the homes of clients up to 25 miles from Carleton, Poulton-le-Fylde.
New Lessons Available: We're taking bookings for new percussion and drum lessons for beginners through to advanced performers. To enquire, click here.

Mark is a highly-qualified and experienced drummer and drum tutor, based in Poulton-le-Fylde. As well as his work as our Blackpool drum teacher, his work includes session drumming and playing drums in live in bands.Mark's drum lessons are usually 60 minutes long in total, comprising 45 minutes warm up and study, followed by a fifteen minute 'free-study' session during which students can work on whatever they fancy, be it particular songs, or styles of drumming, hand percussion, rhythm section work (Mark also plays bass, which is handy!) or anything else that takes their fancy. This all starts at just £22.50 per session. Drum lessons in Preston and the other local towns that Mark can travel to may incur a small travel add-on.
All of the relevant theory is covered, so you'll learn quickly how to read drum music, and for those who're interested, there's also the opportunity to write your own compositions!
All of our music teachers, including our drum teachers, have to meet certain criteria before being formally accepted onto our books. These include, but aren't limited to, having high levels of ability on the instrument(s) to be taught, certifications in performance and theory of music, and suitable teaching space when they teach from home or a studio. They are also asked to provide a CRB disclosure.
